How it works

How DrivPrep helps you study

A practical study system built around how US state DMV written tests are actually scored.

1

Choose a starting point

If you know which state you’ll test in, open your state page directly. If you’re new to the material, start with a general topic practice test.

2

Practice one question at a time

Each question is multiple choice with four options, just like the real DMV exam. Read the prompt carefully, commit to an answer, then read the explanation. Don’t skip the explanation — that’s where the learning happens.

3

Track your score

After each set, you’ll see a percentage score. Most US states require between 70% and 88% to pass the official exam. Aim to score 90%+ on DrivPrep consistently before booking your test date.

4

Drill weak areas

Wrong answers are the most valuable data you have. Re-read the corresponding chapter in your state’s driver handbook, then re-take the practice test until you score 100% on that category.

5

Run state-specific practice

Once general topics feel solid, switch to your state page. State-specific questions cover the rules unique to your DMV — like Utah’s 0.05 BAC, NYC’s right-on-red prohibition, or Georgia’s Hands-Free Law.

Free vs Premium

Free practice includes general topic tests, state-specific previews, study guides, and the road-signs trainer.

Premium (coming soon) adds ad-free studying, the full question bank for every state, weak-topic analytics, and a personalized study plan tied to your test date.

Important: DrivPrep is an independent learning platform. We are not the DMV and have no affiliation with any state or federal motor-vehicle agency. Practice questions are educational examples modeled on standard US driver-handbook content; they do not reproduce actual exam items and do not guarantee a passing score. Always confirm current rules with your state’s official driver handbook.
