This Privacy Policy is maintained by the DrivPrep team. It explains what information DrivPrep.com collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights and choices available to you — including under the EU/UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA.

1. Who we are and scope of this policy

DrivPrep ("DrivPrep", "we", "us", "our") operates DrivPrep.com, an independent driver education platform offering practice tests, study guides and state-specific information for United States drivers. This policy applies to the DrivPrep.com website and any page that links to it.

It does not apply to third-party websites we link to, such as state licensing authorities or handbook downloads. Those sites publish their own privacy policies and we encourage you to read them.

For privacy purposes, DrivPrep acts as the controller of personal information processed through this website. You can reach us at support@drivprep.com or through our contact page.

2. Information we collect

a) Study data stored on your device. Your practice test scores, per-category performance, question history, optional display name and selected state are saved in your browser's local storage. This information stays on your device. We do not receive it, and clearing your browser data deletes it permanently.

b) Information you provide to us. When you use the contact form or email us, we receive the name, email address and message content you choose to send, along with anything you include in that message. We use it solely to respond and, where relevant, to correct our content.

c) Technical and usage information. Like virtually all websites, our hosting infrastructure automatically records request data: IP address, user agent and browser type, device type, referring URL, pages requested, and the date and time of each request. This is used for security, abuse prevention, error diagnosis and aggregate traffic measurement.

d) Cookies and similar technologies. Subject to your consent choice, we and our partners may set cookies and read local storage for analytics, performance measurement and advertising. Details are in our Cookie Policy.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information such as government identification numbers, health data, precise geolocation or financial account details. Please do not send those to us.

3. How and why we use information

To deliver the website, its practice tests and its study guides.
To remember your study progress and preferences on your own device.
To answer your messages and process content corrections.
To understand, in aggregate, which guides and test categories are useful so we can improve and expand them.
To keep the service secure — detecting abuse, scraping, fraud and technical failures.
To display advertising that helps keep the core content free, where you have allowed advertising cookies.
To comply with legal obligations and to establish or defend legal claims.

4. Legal bases for processing (EEA and UK visitors)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: legitimate interests for operating, securing and improving the site and for responding to your inquiries; consent for non-essential cookies, analytics and advertising, which you may withdraw at any time; and legal obligation where we must retain or disclose information under applicable law.

5. Advertising, analytics and third parties

DrivPrep may display advertising, including advertising served by Google and its partners. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings, and you may opt out of third-party vendor cookies through the industry opt-out pages operated by the Network Advertising Initiative (optout.networkadvertising.org) and the Digital Advertising Alliance (optout.aboutads.info). In the EEA and UK, you can use youronlinechoices.eu.

We implement Google Consent Mode v2: before you make a choice, advertising and analytics storage signals are set to "denied", and they are only updated to "granted" for the categories you allow.

Other categories of recipients may include our hosting and content delivery provider, analytics providers, and error-monitoring services. Each processes data on our behalf under contract, or as an independent controller where the service requires it (as with advertising vendors).

We do not sell personal information for money. We share information only: with service providers acting on our instructions (hosting, analytics, email delivery); with advertising partners where you have consented to advertising cookies; where required by law, subpoena or a valid governmental request; to protect the rights, safety and property of DrivPrep, our users or the public; and in connection with a merger, acquisition or asset sale, in which case we will notify users of any change in control of personal information.

7. International transfers

DrivPrep is operated from and hosted on infrastructure located in the United States, and our providers may process data in other countries. Where we transfer personal information out of the EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, together with additional measures where required.

8. Data retention

Contact messages are retained for up to 24 months after the inquiry is resolved, or longer where needed for legal claims. Server and security logs are retained for a short rolling period, typically up to 12 months. Aggregate, non-identifying statistics may be kept indefinitely. Study progress is not retained by us at all — it lives on your device until you clear it.

9. Your privacy rights

EEA/UK (GDPR). You have the right to access your personal data, to rectification, to erasure, to restriction of processing, to data portability, to object to processing based on legitimate interests or direct marketing, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior lawful processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

California (CCPA/CPRA). California residents may request to know the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected, the sources, the business purpose and the categories of recipients; request deletion; request correction; and opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. Turning off the Advertising category in our cookie banner is our opt-out mechanism, and we honour Global Privacy Control signals where transmitted. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any right.

Other U.S. states. Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws (including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah and Texas) may exercise substantially similar access, deletion, correction and opt-out rights.

To exercise any right, email support@drivprep.com with the request and the state or country you are writing from. We respond within the period required by applicable law — generally 30 days under the GDPR and 45 days under the CCPA — and may need to verify your identity, using only information necessary for that purpose. You may use an authorized agent where the law permits.

You can change or withdraw your cookie choice at any time using the button below, clear all study data from the My Progress page, or delete site data through your browser settings. Blocking storage keeps every guide and practice test readable, but progress will not be saved between visits.Manage cookie preferences

11. Children's privacy

DrivPrep is intended for people preparing for or holding a driver's license and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. Learner drivers under 18 should use the site with a parent or guardian's awareness. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

12. Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we handle, including encrypted transport (HTTPS), restricted administrative access and provider-level infrastructure protections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please avoid sending sensitive personal details through the contact form.

13. Do Not Track

Browsers may transmit a "Do Not Track" signal, for which there is still no agreed industry standard, so we do not respond to it. We do honour Global Privacy Control signals as an opt-out of sale/sharing where applicable law requires it.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the platform, our providers or the law change. The date at the top reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be highlighted on the site, and continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
