This policy explains the cookies, local storage and similar technologies used on DrivPrep.com, what each category is for, how long it lasts, and how you can change or withdraw your consent at any time.
1. What these technologies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device and can read back on later visits. Local storage is a related browser mechanism that keeps data on your device until you clear it. Pixels and similar tags work with cookies to record that a page or advertisement was loaded. Together we refer to them as "cookies" in this policy.
First-party cookies are set by DrivPrep.com. Third-party cookies are set by other companies whose services appear on our pages, such as analytics or advertising vendors.
2. How we use them
Strictly necessary storage. We use browser local storage to keep your practice test history, category performance, optional display name and selected state, so your progress persists between visits. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to us. We also store your cookie choice so the banner does not reappear on every page.
Performance and analytics. Where you allow it, we use measurement services to understand which guides and tests are useful, in aggregate, and to detect technical problems.
Advertising. Where you allow it, third-party vendors including Google may use cookies to serve and measure ads based on your visits to this and other sites. Advertising helps keep the practice tests and every study guide free.
3. Cookie categories in detail
| Category | Purpose | Examples | Duration | Consent |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Page delivery, security, load balancing and storing your cookie choice. Also covers the local storage that keeps your practice test progress on this device. | drivprep_consent, drivprep.cookie-consent.v1, drivprep study progress keys | Session to 180 days (consent record), study data until you clear it | Always active — no consent required |
| Performance | Detecting slow pages, failed requests and script errors so guides and tests load reliably. | Error and performance monitoring identifiers | Session to 12 months | Optional — off until you allow it |
| Analytics | Aggregate statistics on which guides, categories and state pages are used, and how visitors move through the site. | _ga, _ga_*, _gid (Google Analytics, if enabled) | Session to 24 months | Optional — off until you allow it |
| Advertising | Ad delivery, frequency capping, ad measurement and personalization by Google and other advertising vendors. | Google advertising cookies such as IDE, test_cookie, __gads, __gpi | Session to 24 months | Optional — off until you allow it |
4. Google Consent Mode v2
Before you make a choice, DrivPrep sets all advertising and analytics consent signals — ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization, analytics_storage and personalization_storage — to "denied". When you save your preferences, only the categories you allowed are updated to "granted". Rejecting non-essential cookies keeps those signals denied for the whole visit.
5. Third-party cookies and opt-outs
Advertising and analytics cookies are set by their own providers under their own privacy policies. You can opt out of personalized advertising by Google through Google's Ads Settings, and out of third-party vendor cookies through the Network Advertising Initiative (optout.networkadvertising.org), the Digital Advertising Alliance (optout.aboutads.info) or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.
6. Managing your choices
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the button below — withdrawing is as easy as giving consent. You can also clear your DrivPrep study data from the My Progress page, and view, block or delete cookies and site data through your browser settings (Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge all provide these controls under Privacy).Manage cookie preferences
Blocking storage entirely prevents your test history and study preferences from being saved, but every guide and practice test remains fully accessible.
7. Changes and contact
We update this policy when the cookies we use change; the revision date appears at the top. See our Privacy Policy for how the resulting data is handled. Questions can be sent to support@drivprep.com.
